Chris + Ariel's Phoenix Engagement Photoshoot

We've been buried in snow for a couple of weeks now here in Flagstaff, so as you can imagine I was eager to hit the I-17 and head to Phoenix for Chris + Ariel's engagement session. The location we chose, Usery Mountain Regional Park was totally new to all of us so I arrived early to scout it out and was so thrilled to be surrounded by cacti. The change of scenery is so good sometimes and Arizona is definitely one of the best places to live if you need that little shake up to your norm from time to time. Ariel actually reached out to me a few months ago to see if I was available for their wedding at Nordic Village in Flagstaff over summer and ultimately selected one of my wedding packages that included an engagement session.

I loved this opportunity to get to know them prior to spending the big day by their side! And I was thrilled that they were the down-to-earth, easygoing kind of client that I hope for when an inquiry pops up in my email.

I actually did struggle a little bit when it came to editing this gallery. I'm overjoyed with how the final product turned out, but it was one of those editing processes where I just couldn't get things exactly how I wanted them. I've actually found this happening quite a bit lately and I'm not sure if it's because I'm in a transition point with my editing style, if I'm shooting more accurately in camera and overthinking editing, or just out of rhythm for some reason. I also am trying to give myself some grace as I've been editing pretty much non-stop since last month's boudoir event!

Regardless, live vicariously through the deserty warmth of these photos and let's see if they can help thaw us out as we head into (hopefully!) warmer weather soon!
