Buckle Bunny Beauty Co. Makeup | Your Flagstaff Wedding Vendors

It seems like the industry that my Flagstaff brides have the toughest time tracking down when finding a local vendor is Makeup specialists. So anytime I find a talented service provider in this industry I cannot wait to highlight what they offer! Jessica from Buckle Bunny Beauty Co. Makeup (previously Jessica Scott MUA) is someone I've been so looking forward to interviewing for the "Your Flagstaff Wedding Vendors" series and today we have the pleasure of getting to know her!

Arizona Wedding Makeup Artist

Who are you and what service do you offer in the Northern Arizona Wedding Vendor arena?

I am a 28 year old animal crazy, outdoor loving, foodie who happens to love and practice makeup. I have two beautiful kids and the best husband in the world. We have two dogs and two horses. I play softball in my free time and also love to kayak, fish and hunt. Basically anything outside I am into!

How long have you been creating in your space and what made you decide to offer these services for Arizona couples planning their weddings?

About 8 years! I had a friend who was getting into boudoir at the time and needed makeup services. There weren’t a lot of choices at that time especially in the budget for a beginner photographer getting their feet wet for the first time. We went to Sephora down in the valley and spent $300 on things I thought I would need. Its almost laughable how underprepared I was, but that was the beginning! A few years down the road of doing that here and there and I had a couple of girls I knew who were getting married and started taking weddings. The rest is history!

Where are you based currently and what areas or Northern Arizona do you serve?

I am based out of Williams, but serve all of Northern Arizona. Mostly Flagstaff, Sedona, Williams, Cottonwood/ Camp Verde and Prescott areas.

What is your favorite thing about your business?

My favorite thing about my business is meeting all kinds of people and seeing their different wedding aesthetics. I love to see how their personality fits in with their wedding vibes!

What was the biggest challenge or most unexpected obstacle you've had to overcome? This can be a general challenge or a specific project that tested your abilities.

The biggest challenge I have come across is definitely social media. Social media has absolutely blown up the last few years and though word of mouth is still king in my opinion, I feel that people can kind of get lost in the sauce when they get online and start looking for wedding vendors. There are so many pages to view and businesses to shuffle through that if you’re not doing what you need to do to stand out online, your business can suffer even if you are great at what you do.

What is your favorite review or piece of feedback you've ever gotten from a client?

My favorite piece of feedback was from a bride who said that I was her favorite part of getting ready because I kept her laughing which took her mind off of how nervous she was and the things she was stressing about on the day of. I am there to provide a service, but I want your day to be special and perfect in every other aspect, too. If I can help with that in any way like keeping your nerves calm before the ceremony, I am happy to!

Bridal Makeup in Northern Arizona

What is the trickiest part about being a Flagstaff-based or Northern Arizona-Based vendor?

The trickiest part of being a Northern Arizona vendor is probably just timelines. It’s travel, no matter where my client is. Sometimes timelines can get tricky with multiple clients but I make do. I won’t agree to taking a client unless I am absolutely positive I can be there barring any unforeseen circumstances such as an illness or freeway closure.

How would you describe your "Dream Client"?

My dream clients are the laid back brides. The cowgirls, the boho brides, the brides that are happy to be being married and just letting the chips fall into place. I love creative freedom and a bride who trusts me to know how to frame their beauty. Ranch weddings, woods weddings and boho styled weddings are my favorite aesthetically and I just adore working with clients who feel familiar to me and that I can vibe with for that hour or so that we are together.

How would you describe your style compared to others in your industry?

I would say that my style compared to others is very much “less is more.” A lot of times with bridal and even boudoir clients I have people who come to me specifically because they want to look like themselves still. There is such a stigma that getting your makeup done is full glam all the time but really sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is just to highlight the best parts of their features instead of masking and reshaping the way they look. Also as a tip if you are getting your makeup done for the first time, and don’t often wear makeup I don’t recommend straying too far from your comfort zone. And especially not for your wedding unless you have completed a trail and feel 100% comfortable with it. Your wedding is not the time to try new things or reinvent your face. If you’re not comfortable it will show in pictures and in person. I can pull out all the stops and do a full glam, but really I am here loving my niche with the chapstick girlies who love something a little more subtle.

Where would you like to see your business one year from now?

Business wise, I would like to see some of these brides returning for family photos, couple photos and maybe even maternity photos if that’s where their path is taking them. I don’t only do bridal makeup!

Where can interested potential clients find your pricing information? Do you have a price range for your services you feel comfortable sharing here?

They can find my pricing information by texting, calling, DMing me or emailing me. I am happy to answer any questions regarding price. My prices range from $115-150. I also have a travel fee that is calculated out of Flagstaff city limits per mile.

Who are some vendors you feel could use some more recognition in Northern Arizona?

Gabby Wallace, Oddfox Photography is a favorite of mine. Not just because I love the owner. She really is great at what she does!

Flagstaff Wedding Makeup Artist

I am currently obsessed with @Bellebotanicalcreations on Instagram. Their embroidered veils are absolutely DREAMY.

I recently had a bride at the Flagstaff Nordic Center for the first time and I was blown away by how beautiful the venue was! I don’t hear about them very often but would definitely recommend.

I also love the recent trend of having pan dulce at the dessert table and would recommend Gloria’s Bakery in Flagstaff on fourth street if that is in anyones wheelhouse.
